Enduring Heroes Artist Opens Studio on Veterans Day
For the past two years, a group of dedicated volunteers, including Pasadena-area Gold Star families (those who have tragically lost a son or daughter in action), have worked tirelessly to bring the Enduring Heroes Memorial to Pasadena. This bronze monument of a soldier triumphantly holding the American flag will be erected at the gateway to Pasadena and will pay permanent tribute to 11 hometown heroes who lost their lives fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Wars on Terror since 9/11/2001, and honor those veterans who have thankfully returned home.
Noted local sculptor Christopher Slatoff brings artistry and skill to the creation of this monument, which will enhance Pasadena and create a greater awareness of, and appreciation for, all those who serve. Slatoff takes turns using pictures of the 11 fallen soldiers as reference, ensuring that the spirit of each hero is memorialized. Photographs of all 11 heroes are mounted on his studio wall, where he keeps them for inspiration.
