Mian Situ’s “Spider Rock, Canyon de Chelly” featured in Western Art Collector’s “Collectors Focus; Canyons & Deserts” by John O’Hearn, June 2023
Ancient Puebloans lived in Canyon de Chelly on the Navajo Nation of Arizona over 4,000 years ago. The cliffs of the canyon are about 30 feet high at it mouth and rise to more than 1,000 feet deeper in. Its name is Spanish borrowing of the Navajo word for the region, Tseyi, “deep in the rock.”
