Description
Known as the "Father of Golf in the Southland" Edward B. Tufts was a nationally-known sportsman and co-founder of the Los Angeles Country Club. He was president of the Southern California Golf Association for 22 years and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. Tufts ran a sporting goods store in Los Angeles and authored the book, The History of Golf in Southern California (1925). Gregarious and popular, thousands of golfers affectionately referred to Edward Tufts as "Uncle Ed."
