Description
"Saint Luke (1:39-41) relates that, “Mary set out at that time and went quickly as she could to a town in the hill country of Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”
The Church of the Visitation is said to be built over the home of St. John the Baptist’s parents and commemorates this meeting between the Virgin Mary and Elizabeth, the mother of St. John."
