Description
Using a selection of colored lights, the artist Peter Adams illuminated this wooden statue of Saint Teresa of Avila to spontaneously create an aesthetic and contemplative oil painting. The 16th century Spanish Carmelite nun, Saint Teresa, is recognized by the Roman Catholics as one of the thirty-six Doctors of the Church, and the first of four women doctors. The sculpture belongs to the historic Mission San Juan Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, California, and stands near the altar by the lectern.
