Artist Statement
"Bacchante II depicts a close friend and favorite muse of mine. My work often features figurative subjects immersed in lush environments, alluding to ancient myth, folktales, and local lore. The models are specific characters in my life that become transformed into universal archtypes. Saints, muses, and sages populate real or imagined spaces. I am largly inspired by the painting movements of the 19th-century England and France, particularly the Symbolists and Pre-Rahaelites."
