Artist Statement
"The colors, shapes, and textures of these dilapidated fishing boats were fascinating and a visual feast. Yet, it is the setting of a complicated story. These people's way of life, their culture and tradition are quickly disappearing. Many are moving into apartments. The younger generation is becoming educated and gaining employment. Are their lives improving? Perhaps. But progress is a double edged sword. Is their culture dying? It appears so. What is the balance?"
