“Before European settlers arrived, Native Americans lived in harmony with nature. They were an intrinsic part of their woodland world. There were no loud and busy human noises like those that rule our modern world. A still and quiet expanse of freshly fallen snow dampens, even eliminates, normal bird calls or the rustling of small animals. It is a deep, deep silence. Seen here; it is their native world to enter, now almost quiet.”
