Description Created en plein air during the artist's 2019 painting trip to Qingdao City in northeast China with a group of artists, this intriguing scene takes place along the Yellow Sea. As evening approaches, four old boats are depicted abandoned and caught ashore at low tide. In the distance awaits unknown adventures to faraway lands. Mian Situ's fascination with the subject lies in his interest in capturing on canvas the rapidly changing old ways of life in China. Today, traditional wooden fishing boats are being replaced by large modern vessels and highly-equipped fishing fleets.
