Description
Merrell uses vibrant colors, red, blue and yellow, to capture the vivacious Santa Monica Pier. The clamor on the pier is at a distance. This nocturne painting has a dreamy, pensive mod with an emphasis on tonal qualities as opposed to the narrative content. The muted tones and hazy outlined objects allow the viewer to look out into pier as an "outsider".
