Artist Statement
“Geology laid bare
ravished by water
wind, snow
witness to ages.
Seemingly peaceful,
belying its rough past
as if static, still,
instead of the
continual churning
it endures.
If I am
quiet enough
and very still
could I hear
the machinations
of change?
Instead,
I paint this great
tome of time,
turning page after page
with every brush stroke,
color change,
and shadow shift.
Wiser now
and
humbled.”
