Biography

California landscape and figure painter Tim Solliday was born in 1952. At an early age Solliday was inspired by his artist-father to begin painting. In the late 1980s he studied with early California Impressionist, Theodore N. Lukits (1897-1992) at the Lukits Academy of Fine Art. There, Solliday honed his exceptional skills and solidified his goal of capturing beauty on canvas in the plein-air style. Solliday’s style of painting is reminiscent of Taos Society of Artists painters William Herbert Dunton and Ernest Martin Hennings. Through his plein-air work in the pastel medium and large canvasses, he has played an important role in the revival of landscape painting in
Southern California.
