Artist's Statement
"A select group of us artists was given special permission to spend a few days painting en plein air deep into the Tejon Ranch region. I wanted to paint a vista at sunset and decided to go up Tunis Ridge to overlook a series of hills that would be backlit by the sun. This was the crowning part of a productive day of painting and gave me a sense of exploring California in the early days, a spirit of freedom and a moment of glory."
