Artist Statement
"I was captivated by the staging being on the Orient Express and how well it worked with the plot of Mozart's opera. The challenge for me, having not seen the opera, was trying to quickly interpret all of the main characters in a single session. The liveliness of the production coincided well with my excitement and encouraged me to paint rapidly. It was a thrilling experience!"
—Peter Adams

Description
Painted at the Los Angeles Opera by special arrangement. While seated in an engineers' box and using only one small reading light, Peter Adams painted this final scene all prima from Mozart's "The Abduction from the Seraglio." The staging was set aboard the Orient Express in the 1920s.
