Artist Statement
“In the late afternoon, this is one of my favorite spots to paint from in the San Gabriel Mountains. It overlooks the headwaters of the Arroyo Seco River. I’m perched on the road to Mount Wilson by Mount Disappointment and looking westward to the slopes of Strawberry Peak, Brown Mountain, and Mount Lukens. The precipitous cliffs remind me of the mysterious Sung and Yuan Dynasty scroll paintings of ancient China.”
