Description
Seemingly provocative, yet inwardly demure, Aria could be her name or it may reflect her aspirations as a singer. Her eyes gaze upwards in a dream-like expression. The soft, gentle curl in her hair mimics the drape of the pearls that flow into her cleavage and illuminate her skin. Aria may be dressed to go to the theater or she may be portraying an operatic character. Nonetheless, Aria is charming and intriguing, and Gottlieb’s refined brushwork harmonizes exquisitely with his subject.
“Gottlieb’s personal fascination with interpreting ephemeral, yet deep, thoughts as a form of poetic idealism in painting prompts a distinct art language that merges the worlds of Realism and Impressionism. By applying the classical skills of the Old Masters, his contemporary subjects are given an enigmatic and timeless appeal.”
