Description
The church of St. Catherine is adjacent and connected to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem where they celebrate the place where Jesus was born. It also harbors the caves where St. Jerome spent approximately 15 years translating the Bible to Latin. It is said to be built on the site of Christ’s appearance to St. Catherine of Alexandria and His prediction of the martyrdom. The cloister includes a statue of St. Jerome, while the church is façade is topped with a statue of St. Catherine.
