Artist Statement
"Painted from a study done on-location while camped in the Big Pine Canyon area of the John Muir Wilderness, Sierra Nevada Range. Artist friends and I mule-packed in and set up camp for a week of hiking and painting. This is a scene close to our camp at Sixth Lake, where, in the late afternoon everything gets a beautiful back-lit glow from the low sun. I chose to enjoy it, not with a cocktail, but by painting, and I think I made the right decision!”
— Jean LeGassick

Description
Painted en plein air in the Sierra Nevada.
