Artist Statement
"The majority of the work was painted inside Serra Chapel at Mission San Juan Capistrano. I was allowed to bring my colored lights into the church and light the crucifix and the grand retablo behind it. I used a blue-green light to illuminate the crucifix which I believe gives the image of Christ a peaceful preeminence in the painting. I lit the retablo behind with a red light."
