Description This work was painted from the Irvine Conservancy in the spring of 2008, six months after the devasting Santiago Fire, caused by an arsonist, that destroyed more than 28,000 acres of Orange County from October 21 to November 9, 2007. "Force of Life" is a testament to nature's will to grow and flourish. Steele expresses a sense of strength and beauty by heightening carpets of California's brilliant orange poppies and purple lupine amidst charred chaparral and manzanita.
