Artist Statement
"The painting "Hollywood You Marry Me?" is related to my proposal. I first painted the back of the Hollywood Sign in 2001 and hung it in the old Mendenhall Gallery space on Fair Oaks. I took Holly to see the show, where she didn't even know I had a painting. From across the exhibition room she was immediately excited to see it (because she had long associated with the sign and her name). She then approached the painting to discover my signature in the corner and I popped the question. She of course still has that original painting, this 12x16 inch version is new. A slightly different angle and a different color palette."
