Artist Statement
“The crepe-like blooms of the Matilija Poppy
gently flutter within the leaves and stems of their
cluster, seeming to float above the fray. While I
work, I marvel at the bees feasting on the yolkshaped
centers cradled within the pearly petals,
secretly wanting to witness the bobbing round
buds to bloom so they may too give their precious
nectar.”
