Artist Statement
"Living in the high desert, foggy and atmospheric days are a rarity. So it is always fun for me, when camping along the coast, to try to capture that kind of subtle beauty. The edges of things are soft, and the light and shadow areas are closer in value, especially farther and farther in the distance. Although I had been painting mainly on the beach on this trip, I looked out my camper window one day, saw this scene and had to paint it— not only did it have the soft atmosphere, but the lovely violets and pink colors were irresistible!"
