On consignment at American Legacy Fine Arts from a private collector. Painted, circa 2004, in the Mount Carmel area of Utah during the annual Maynard Dixon Country Plein Air Event.
Description
The immediate subject of Prayers Rising portrays the open wilderness, while the underlying message suggests communicating with the Divine Spirit. The heavy lifting clouds, in the form of hands, reflect a metaphor for prayers ascending like incense toward heaven. "Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice." Psalm 141:2
