Description
Seemingly resting upon a golden cushion, this "two-faced" subject has the appearance of essentially two masks that one might wish to wear. The sculpture alludes to Janus, the ancient Roman god of transitions and time. Depicted having two faces, Janus presides over war and peace. It is fitting that this sculpture shares two sides to represent a beginning and an ending while always engaging in spirited conversation. The sculpture is exquisitely hand-carved by Bácsi utilizing hammer and chisel tools on imported Italian marble.
