Description
This sculpture by Bela Bacsi was inspired by a Hellenistic marble based on the shape of a shell found in the Mediterranean Sea, known as Pelican’s Foot (Aporrhais pespelecani). The Hellenistic marble version is thought to have been a vessel used by temple priests for pouring ritual libations.
The "marmo statuario crema, venata delicata" was sourced from the Cava di Michelangelo (quarry) in Carrara, Italy.
