Artist Statement
"South on Hill is a view of downtown Los Angeles from Chinatown, looking toward City Hall. I have been painting the downtown area and historic parts of L.A. for a few years now, looking for unique views of a city that I grew up in. There is so much activity and redevelopment going on, and this scene had so many shapes and angles, along with the warm winter light on a quiet weekend afternoon. As soon as I turned the corner and found this scene, I saw a painting. I am always inspired by new views and subjects I've never painted before, and the downtown city life is a never ending source of inspiration for me, a painter from the coast of Laguna Beach."
