Artist Statement
“This painting was conceived while I was in my wife’s studio and she had the doors open to the outside view looking west. I was so struck by the entire scene, the outdoors and indoors seemed to be intermingling with one another. I immediately thought of setting sunflowers on the table and painting the scene bathed in the afternoon sunlight in a contre jour effect.”
