Description
This finely executed watercolor by Carl Oscar Borg, circa 1921, shows a rustic, operating California ranch house built of sun-dried adobe bricks with timbers supporting a red clay roof and a wooden, covered porch. It may have been completed when Borg exhibited a gouache entitled "Old Adobe" (Santa Barbara) at the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art. Borg taught from 1920 to 1925 at the Santa Barbara School of Arts, housed in the Old Dominguez Adobe on the corner of Santa Barbara and Carrillo Streets in the Presidio quarter. Borg is primarily known for his Western genre paintings.

Wood with gold gilt finish. The work is mounted under clear acrylic with a single mat.
