Description
For this painting, the artist decided to capture the brief moment in which the sun falls and casts an orange halo over the trees. As the light touches the water and each spec of sand, this scene is quickly fleeting. The ephemeral quality of Merrell's painting contributes to its overwhelming fascination.  The warm hues reflect a pleasant California night spent at the beach.
