Artist Statement
"During the quiet of winter, I drove up to Dodger Stadium to visit the team store at the Top of the Park. I brought along my painting gear, knowing the stadium parking lot has great views of Los Angeles. I was not disappointed. The low winter sun, along with the haze, created this atmospheric, almost monochromatic view of downtown. I was drawn to the old telephone poles and palms on the hillside in the foreground against the more geometric shapes of the skyline in the distance. I was the only one around until a security truck pulled up as I was halfway through my painting and kindly asked me to leave. I finished it up back in my studio with the scene fresh in my mind." — Michael Obermeyer
